@Patricia I think so, from limited perspective of having used its generated code, but not having used it to do the actual code generation myself.
@charliejane Didn't know they did Shannara Chronicles, but that explains a lot. Other than maybe some aspects of the set design, this is way more their style than his. The delivery on the witty goth one-liners is about on par with "Sloppy Rover Seconds" in terms of cringe-factor, but everything else has heart so it's okay.
@charliejane only midway into Ep. 4 but there are more feels each episode. And it’s extremely CW (everyone, adults included, seem to divide the world into “normies” and “outcasts”)
@dan @lars @justinesherry hmmm I'm getting more Disneyfied fairytale vibe here than Tolkien
@Patricia I spent a good chunk of the day debugging 3rd-party code that I think was generated by it, and came away reasonably sure that wasn't the source of the bug I was experiencing
Not allowing police to deploy an exploding robot is common sense. But apparently not to some members of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors. Helps us tell them why this policy could easily result in disaster. https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2022/11/let-them-know-san-francisco-shouldnt-arm-robots
@Patricia have you seen this yet? Just stumbled across it today and looks nice https://quicktype.io/
@TaliaRinger first year of grad school I hid the knob to the office thermostat, which my officemate from India was initially pretty salty about, but he ended up thanking me for acclimating him to New England after his first winter heating bill for his apartment 🤣
Mandatory mobile sim card registration #SimReg is a human rights infringing measure (on a global scale) .... it adds to the foundations of the surveillance state .. it disenfranchises people in the millions. As an example "Over 5.7 million subscribers on Ghana's biggest telecommunications network, MTN, risk having the SIM cards deactivated ... MTN Ghana, explained that the disconnection will affect subscribers who have yet to complete stage 2 of the mandatory NCA SIM re-registration guideline."
unoriginal llm gripe
@mutual_ayyde if you spend **any** amount of time working closely with ML models it becomes very apparent that it's the latter.
@TaliaRinger 65ºF is my ideal operating temperature, and I am basically nonfunctional above 75ºF.
"we trained our compiler on a proprietary corpus" -- statements from the absolutely deranged,,,
@irene “responsibility, what’s that?”
Long thread/8
Nope. The #BureauOfLandManagement gets the $7 entry fee from the 64 daily hikers who are lucky enough to visit Coyote Buttes. The $14,400 in lottery fees that the day's hopeful hikers pay to Recreation.gov for a shot at a permit all go to a giant military contractor: Booz Allen.
I know. What. The. Actual. Fuck.

Just in case you're wondering, the fight against authorizing the use of deadly force via robots by the SFPD isn't over yet. There is one vote left before the policy becomes effective. If you live in SF, you can use this Action Alert to tell your Supervisor to vote "no."

@vitaut it’s this scene right down to knowing that however entertaining the squabble may be, the outcome is predetermined because one combatant can at any moment nuke the other one in the face
@NLRCreations has its own demo reel too: https://www.instagram.com/reel/CaSU3qNLkzn/?igshid=YWJhMjlhZTc=
