If anyone tries to tell you that the #vaccines increase your risk for heart issues, you can tell them the risk from infection is many, many times worse -- and longer term.
A quiet Sunday night in NYC, gently lit by street lights that you'll find in Geopipe's New York City. The traffic is a whole different story ;)

@unitygames.
@arclight @bitsavers I'd love to see a book about how MBA ideology took HP from a world-leading engineering firm to little more than a overpriced printer-ink scam.
But those are just some questions off the top of my head. I'm mostly interested in summaries of the ups and downs from experienced, accomplished developers who have used it in anger for real work.
Obsessed with this video of @geopipe's NYC in @unrealengine 5.1:
The tragedy of the commons is a pernicious myth.
The demise of the commons of Britain and Europe wasn't the result of misuse by commoners, but enclosing by the landowners. The original hypothetical was made up for storytelling purposes, and the term was popularized by an ecologist with anti-immigrant and racist views.

When you first learn about vectors and rotations and dot products in Cartesian space, they’re simple and easy to understand. And then you learn about Minkowski space and curved spacetime and different reference frames, and you need to work with metrics versus coordinate transformations...and things get complicated. Here is my attempt to untangle the metric versus the coordinate transformation: https://sunfishstanford.github.io/embracing%20transitory%20confusion/math/physics/2022/12/30/MetricsVsTransforms.html
The thing about data storage is that they are so incredibly intricate and low-level complicated, just giving a HDD or SSD some really solid whacks with a hammer that messes up the internals a bit makes it functionally impossible to recover.
And Google and Microsoft and Amazon and NSA don't software-wipe hard drives they physically destroy them.
So George Santos now admits he lied about, well, everything: He didn’t work on Wall Street or graduate from college. But he’s still planning to take the seat in Congress he won under false pretenses. https://www.nytimes.com/2022/12/26/nyregion/george-santos-interview.html
There are literally hundreds of millions of white folk that do want to hear about ways we can reduce all of those bad things. I work with them. We don't need everyone on every issue. It's cool.
But don't ask me "What do you mean Mastodon is not welcoming to Black folk?" And then in the very next breath, say, "Yeah, yeah, I'm sure Black folk are mistreated, but I don't want to hear about it! CW that garbage! It's making me sad!" Just be real, and only say the second part.
