Which fusion energy program is most likely to work? (Be commercially useful)

@dfeldman I really want the matrix showing how much the people who voted for each entry in the poll would say they actually know about current events in the fusion energy/plasma physics community. CFS is on a tear right now.

@elfprince13 I don’t claim to be an expert myself! I just know that the experts seem very skeptical (but that’s their job)

@dfeldman I wouldn’t claim to be an expert relative to anyone working on the projects in your poll, but I was a DOE National Undergraduate Fellow in Plasma Physics + Fusion Energy Science and had a poster accepted at an APS-DPS session, so probably an expert relative to 99.99% of the rest of the population (and know people working at those projects)

@dfeldman anyway, fwiw my vote is “Commonwealth Fusion (or an existing project licensing/buying their stupidly powerful HTS magnets)”, although prior to about 18 months ago it would have been on a stellarator (over either ITER or NIF)

@elfprince13 this is fascinating, thank you. I haven’t heard much about them other than that they get a lot of investment money. I’ll have to read more
