Feeling too juvenile to complain on twitter I am feeling ultimately depressed by peer review. I used to submit papers to top venues and they’d score low because the ideas were not good. These days it seems more like papers get rejected with no technical gripes, glowing reviews, but arbitrary notions of formal aesthetic and the PC’s idea of the right “fit.” I feel like I could keep submitting arbitrarily-high-qualify work and it would *always* get rejected at some of the venues I want to publish at most.

@krismicinski as someone whose incentives for publishing are purely recreational at this point, I pretty much noped out after being asked to be a reviewer for a conference based on a PC member considering me an expert from remembering a paper that had been rejected from the same conference.

@krismicinski (I did the review but have only done like 1 round of paper submissions in ~4 years since then)
