I wanted to make the diagrams for a new online document as resolution-independent vector art, so I installed Inkscape. I last used it a decade ago.

Inkscape had every feature I needed and delivered SVG 1.1 content that could be directly edited--no exporting! It also ran well for me on both macOS and Windows.

However, the UX for Inkscape was a letdown. This includes needing to search up tutorials and reading issue reports for workarounds to known bugs, all to access basic features.
