Pleasantly surprised to walk into East Providence library and see a roving statue of Roger Williams. The other three photos show (most of) the text on the panels in detail. Williams set up Rhode Island to be a bastion of free thought that separated church from state.

@shriramk Time to rant about my pet peeve. Williams set up the *Providence Plantations* to be a bastion of free thought, specifically including protection of native rights. Rhode Island was the nearby pirate den that got lumped in with it by the crown and turned into the hub of the Atlantic slave trade.
