@apodoxus @mutual_ayyde Those who took it seriously and contributed intellectual energy are now most likely some flavor of LWMA, and that's a population that I would guess is much much smaller than the number of scientists who have made productive contributions to the US space program.

@apodoxus @mutual_ayyde Also, in terms of actual progress - Marxists still don't have an answer to the knowledge and calculation problems, and in some sense this is definitional - anyone who is still a Marxist is likely not taking ECP seriously, and can't really be considered to be contributing intellectual energy.

@apodoxus @mutual_ayyde ~64.6M HS graduates from 1959-2000, if I'm reading https://nces.ed.gov/programs/digest/d17/tables/dt17_219.10.asp (and using Excel) correctly.
Anyway, the mean, median, and modal contributions are all likely to be very low, but that's true for both populations.

@mutual_ayyde @apodoxus if you want to count every ostensible Marxist as contributing intellectual energy....the entire US education was overhauled from the ground up to support the space program, so you also need to count every single HS calculus student since Sputnik.
This crowd is remarkably silent on the fact that Signature Bank collapsed yesterday, whose board included Barney Frank of Dodd-Frank Act fame. 🤔
In the grand scheme of things, this isn’t actually as annoying as a bunch of VCs inciting their portfolio founders to burn down a bank but after spending 2 days dealing with the latter it would be cool to not also have to deal with the former
@bpell @Migueldeicaza this is always me meeting celebrities at Comic-Con. *however* I did manage to sit myself directly behind Freeman Dyson all day at a symposium one time, and basically spent each talk brainstorming conversational topics to bring up between sessions.
@steve now my wife works for the Catamount Trail Association and I barely ski at all because she’s so wiped from skiing 6 days a week running their youth programs all winter
@steve when I was younger my family would get a season’s pass at Blueberry Hill and then basically go there 4-5 days a week (2-3 after school + all weekend), and then use the reciprocal pass agreements to do one ski at all the other nice places around, so it would pay off pretty quickly. We had a good amount of our own trails too, but mostly used those for sledding
@bhaugen @mmasnick @KevinCarson1 yeah the oatmeal + cocoa + peanut butter combo no bakes are 🔥🔥🔥
@steve not sure if you ski Nordic at all but back in the day the soup pot and box of giant cookies in the lodge at Blueberry Hill Inn (Goshen VT) was *happening* from about 11:30-1:30 on weekends
@Popehat "It appears to me that there was no liquidity issue until a couple of VCs called it," Greene said. "They were irresponsible, and then it became self-fulfilling." #siliconvalley

@wilbowma were you keeping it at SVB or
@Jonimus it’s also pretty clear to anyone paying attention that the MC takeover was externally funded specifically to achieve this end of rendering the party useless by destroying it from within
@Jonimus ideological typology polling suggests a pretty consistent ~20% of US adults are some flavor of libertarian. in the year since the MC hostile takeover of the LP, membership and donations and #s of elected libertarians have tanked to almost record lows (from record highs in the 4 years preceding) - so it’s clear that overwhelming majority of libertarians out there want nothing to do with MC style alt-right bullshit
